I have always said that Autumn/Winter are my favourite seasons for fashion and beauty, however there is nothing like the drop of SS beauty collections!
Its the time of year where beauty halls are glowing with newness, tinted moisturisers, plumping lip glosses and sheer tints for eyes and cheeks.
Whilst the majority (just about all) of my makeup stash can be used throughout the year, there are a few products that I tend to just use over the warmer months.
MAC FACE AND BODY TINT
Even though this foundation isn't new per se, MAC have relaunched it in 30 different shades.I have a love/hate relationship with this foundation. I first discovered it whilst at University as I was told it didn't do ‘flash back’ which in technical terms meant on a Wednesday night out where we felt the need to take 1million photos to upload first thing Thursday morning. This was a really important factor for me back then having tanned to the moon and back, I used to hate how normal foundations in photos would make you appear to have a white face. I later found out from a MUA friend of mine it was the SPF in foundations that caused your face to go white in photos! (you learn something new everyday)
I then in my 20’s just found it too light in texture on my skin, these were and still are the days when I like a full coverage foundation.
However as soon as the warmer summer months arrive I often resort in heading to a MAC counter and repurchasing it, loving it throughout the summer and then putting/throwing it away for Autumn.
The foundation has a water like texture think Chanel Aqua but with less coverage, it really is that light. One thing I do love about this foundation is that it LASTS all day, literally doesn't budge!
Its defiantly a foundation that needs to be applied with a kabuki brush, it wouldn't in my opinion work with using your fingers as it is so light in texture. Using a kabuki brush helps with blending it all over the face and leaving an even finish. This foundation is also great for building if you wanted a more coverage effect.
Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti Pollution Sunshine Drops.
One of the things I love about summer is all the tanning products that are on the market, from body tans, to instant tans, dark, light, medium you get my point. I am such a sucker for tanning and I really do make it a weekly activity much to my WHITE beddings delight.
I have been converted to tanning drops this year and I can see them being a perm fixture in my beauty routine now. I have tried many of the different varieties that are on the beauty market, I am obsessed with the Tax Lux drops and the Clarins tan drops give a good punch of colour too. However, what I love about the Drunk Elephant ones is that they give an instant tanned glow to your skin, whereas the other ones develop over time. The Drunk Elephant drops are great for ‘no makeup makeup days’ because sometimes we all have them! I mix it with my moisturiser in the morning and apply it with my hands. It applies really evenly and doesn't have the tan biscuit smell that many face tans have!
This would definitely be a product that you try before you buy since it does only come in one shade. Space NK does a great range of Drunk Elephant products and they usually have a 20% off offer on, so that makes it even more appealing to try!
YSL Touche Eclat
Again not just a product for summer but I have recently fallen back in love with this product after a few years not really being bothered by it. I think I was about 16 when I first purchased this and felt very grown up with it in my makeup bag next to my Clinique mascara! This product is very much a cult classic I would even put it up there with Chanel No5. It is the number one selling concealer in the WORLD 3 are sold every minute. (mad!)
However, I don't use it as a ‘concealer’ as such more as a highlighter under my eye bones and down the sides of my nose. It comes in 12 different shades, so there is one for all skin types.
If it was more of a concealer you were looking for I would suggest Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat High Cover Concealer which is new to the collection and offers more coverage than highlight.
YSL Lash Clash Extreme Mascara
This is going to be short and sweet because I literally HAVE NO WORDS to how amazing this
mascara is! Launched in the beginning of 2022. Having been true loyal fan to the YSL Faux Cils mascara I knew I just had to have this mascara and I can tell you I have never looked back. I am now on my third one now! I made Kate buy it when we were together last month! Her feelings are the same as mine!
If you are wanting LONG THICK FALSE LOOKING lashes this mascara is for you, I promise you you wont be disappointed.
CHANEL Healthy Glow Bronzing Cream Cream-Gel Bronzer For A Healthy, Sun-Kissed Glow, 392 Soleil Tan Medium Bronze
This is my definite “Luce, if you were going to go to a desert island and you could only take one beauty product, what would it be’ You might be able to tell that I do get quite hyped up by beauty products, but my god. This bronzer is another level.
IT IS LOVE.
I remember treating myself to it after I had finished university (together with a Mulberry bag) and its always a bronzer that I come back to time after time. For SS22 they have launched it now in another two shades, I have now gone for Medium great for if I have fake tanned. What I love about this product is its multifunctional properties. Not only do I use it on my face, its great across the shoulders if I am wearing something where my shoulders are out, its great for legs too! I always apply it with the Chanel Kabuki brush, makes applying it a dream and ensures there are no streaks.
The texture is quite simply dreamy, think a gel like cream consistency, definitely not the usual powder texture that many bronzers offer.
Like the tanning drops this tan is great to use on none makeup makeup days, did I also tell you that it smells great too?!
Glossier Futuredew
These I would say are one of the latest addition to my makeup collection. Covent Garden has recently opened a Glossier shop where previously you could only buy their products online. Together with online clothes shopping, I really don't enjoy buying beauty online, because unless you definitely know what it is you are looking for together with the shade etc it can easily go very wrong! I had a friend come and stay with me in London a couple of months ago and like me she is very much a makeup addict so was very excited with the prospect of visiting the store in person! I clearly didn't just buy these drops! However these drops have been in my morning makeup routine ever since!
This product really does pack the punch in the GLOW sector! I tend to apply it on the tops of my cheekbones for a pinch of highlight, however in the store one of the ladies told me that many people wear it on top of their mosituriser before applying their foundation. I suppose it depends how Glow do you go?!
I would definitely recommend a visit to the store in Covent Garden, its a gorgeous shop and I can ensure you that you wont just leave with one thing. Trust me.
