Though it may be wet, miserable and getting darker outside, it. doesn't mean our wardrobe's reflecting that mood. And if it is? Well then be sure to contact me because your wardrobe should be anything but dull this A/W.
Autumn / Winter trends tend to be most people's favourite seasons when it comes to fashion for a multiple of reasons, the first reason being that you can cover up! So many clients hate the summer because that means skin is exposed! Now, for me, I'm not a massive fan of summer, usually for the same reason. Give me a crisp, sunny, autumnal morning with clever layering any day.
HAVE A GOOD DETOX
The most popular service has to be the wardrobe detox that I offer. It's a great way to have a good clear out of the clothes that no longer serve their purpose and for you to see clearly the clothes that will see you through the next year. An organised wardrobe will bring you clarity to what's maybe missing. If it's knitwear you seem to have a shortage of then you can start planning your style looks for the coming months.
QUALITY OVER ANYTHING!
Less is more applies to almost everything! Including your wardrobe. Fewer items, but of a higher quality will really make your wardrobe work better for you. Look for style over 'on trend' pieces. I can guarantee you'll get tired of these looks quicker than you would the classics. That doesn't mean to say your wardrobe needs to be boring. Experiment with colour and texture to create versatility. We all need to be doing our bit for sustainability and shopping smarter is definitely the first step you can take!
GET CREATIVE
My favourite thing to do each season is to get on Pinterest and start looking for style ideas. If you feel like you're in a bit of a lull with your fashion then why not start an inspiration board? I love doing this when the kids are in bed and I can indulge in a hot bubble bath. Looking for looks I love, and saving them on my board is a great way to start thinking about what will already work in my wardrobe and what's missing. If you don't know where to start then drop me an email and we can discuss what it is you struggle with.
SHOW WHAT YOUR MAMMA GAVE YOU.
Firstly, pick out what part of your body it is that you like. And be kind to yourself! So if you're like me and you've got young children, you may be conscious of your middle. If that's the
case then focus on those gorgeous legs of yours. Pleather or leather leggings are everywhere on the high street and the shine of them will automatically draw people's attention to the bottom half of your body rather than the top.
If the thought of anything tight on your bottom has you filled with fear, yet you're conscious of your top half, then focus on shoes or accessories. A pointed, statement heel boot this time of year can inject life into any ' day to day' outfit, and will create the illusion that those legs are longer and slimmer.
GO FOR COLOUR
As lush as the caramel colours and muted tones are for AW19, unfortunately there not everyone's colours. Bright pops of colour aren't just for Spring/ Summer. Winter's colour scheme is bursting with bright hues of purples, pinks and limes. Now I usually do go for darker colours as that's my personal preference, however I do try and bring colour into my footwear, to add a different dimension to my outfit. Don't be scared of colour! If you're unsure as to what your colours are a free colour analysis is offered in every wardrobe detox appointment. You will also receive your colour chart with every wardrobe upkeep and aftercare manual when you book your wardrobe cleanse.
The use of bright colours in Winter will instantly bring your wardrobe to life. Certain colours garments will also offer the chance to be worn all year round. Bright pleated skirts are great with tights and an ankle boot, but are also fab with a white tee and sandal for those warmer months.
THAT PERFECT COAT
It's so important to shop for your winter coat as soon as possible. Don't wait until the weather changes. I can guarantee sizes won't be available and they'll be less choice available. Make sure you're looking for your winter coat at the beginning of the season. And don't play it too safe! I love a classic black and camel coat. But there are some amazing coats out there that can brighten up any outfit. I always emphasise that it's really important to invest in your outerwear. You can have the most amazing outfit on underneath, but if you're putting an old, tired or dull coat on over the top, it will ruin your whole outfit. After all, your coat is what people see first!
Personal shops and virtual styling appointments are available to help you find that perfect fit coat that's suitable for your body shape and type.
