Everyone that knows me knows that I am obsessed with a nude lip. Whether that be slick of nude lipgloss or a swipe of a lipstick that is my go to everyday lip. I cant tell you how many nude lipsticks/glosses I have because it would assume that I have some kind of addiction. My everyday go to tends to be switched up between my favourites (I am crazy like that) my favourites being: Tom Ford Blush Suede, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk, Victoria Beckham (Obvs!) Girl and Spice and Chanel Adrienne.
However, I am partial to the occasional Red Lip. I really do believe a Red lip can change the whole look and feel of an outfit. Can instantly add confidence and sass to your whole look. Finding the perfect Red for you can sometimes be a little difficult. What red suits you best? Are you more of a blue undertone or do Orange reds suit you? Do you wear a lip pencil to define the lip? Will you find a Matte lip too drying? would a gloss end up all around your face before 10 am? So many bloody things to thing about!
However, that said, I have played with many a red lip over the years and in my current stash of over 61 lipsticks and counting.. I do have my eye on Dior one as I type this, I do have my trusty Reds that I would love to share with you before Feb 14th! Especially now as rules on mask wearing are relaxing!
Chanel Arthur.
Firstly Chanel lipsticks are the dream. They come in a variety of different finishes, such as Velvet
Luminous Matte, Luminous Intense, Ultra Hydrating and Shines. They come in various different styles of packing too (who doesn't like whipping a Chanel out of their makeup bags?!)
My personal favourite Red lipstick by Chanel is Arthur which is from the Rouge Coco collection.
The name Arthur is inspired by the close friends of Mademoiselle Chanel.
This Chanel lipstick is part of the Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Colour collection, its a semi sheer formula, one which I personally love, its great as its really build able if you wanted more of a punch of colour. I love the Rouge Coco Hydrating collection, they all feel really moisturising and nourishing on the lips, think of a lip balm style texture. Available at www.johnlewis.com
Tom Ford.
As mentioned in previous posts I love Tom Ford makeup! The current love I have for their foundation is still going strong (read the foundation blog here) I don't think there is a lipstick collection that screams pure luxury and indulgence than Tom Ford. They have an array of different formulas depending on your want and desire, their sleek formulas and on point shades that you just can't ignore when pondering a Tom Ford counter.
This lipstick was the most recent ‘Red’ lipstick I have purchased, I bought it to wear to a friends birthday meal is Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge in 75. Jasmine Rouge from their cream lip colour collection. I love everything about this lipstick from the sleek gold and black packaging that has the most satisfying click when the lid is closed to the the TF embossed on the lid. Rather worth me talking about the actual lipstick now though!
Sleek formulas, in on-point shades that you just can’t walk past without having a cheeky swatch of and all wrapped up in packaging that’s almost too swish to store away. They never disappoint. And actually amongst my lipstick stash they’re some of my most-worn. I think it’s down to the click, it’s all about the click – oh and the smell and the TF-embossed tops and the creamy texture – you get the point.
Recently I’ve become rather fond of a duo that I’ve dubbed the ‘Tom Ford Lipstick Wardrobe’; a nude and a red that can be interchanged for barely-there daytime definition and a loud evening pout that cater to every makeup menu eventuality. www.selfridges.com
MAC
MAC is an instant go to of mine whenever I am in need of a new lipstick, they literally have every shade possible. I have been a fan of MAC lipsticks since my teens. Some of the shades I have worn over the years especially whilst at University are shades that I probably shouldn't have and should really be forgotten.. I am looking at you MAC Snob!!
Frost, Cremeseen, Satin, Matte,Amplified Creme, they come in a variety of different finishes and textures. My usual go to would be Crememseen. MAC is renowned for its Ruby Woo red which is a Matte finish. I personally am not a fan of Matte lipsticks, I often find them too drying on my lips and then by lunchtime I am taking it off and putting on a gloss or a balm. However, my favourite Red from MAC is Brave Red which again is a Creamsheen finish lipstick, its medium to dark red with warm undertones. Being a cremesheen means that it was an eaisy to apply lipstick and has a natural shine to it. If you are on the hunt for a new Red lipstick I would definietly recommend Brave Red by MAC. www.MAC.com
